Aleksander Saša Ostan (1959) is a free lance architect, active in a broad archi-cultural field: planning, building, leading workshops, lecturing, researching, writing, drawing, photography (home and abroad). He is an associate professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana. He leads the architects’ section at the Chamber of Architecture and Space of Slovenia (ZAPS). He is the founding partner of Ostan Pavlin Atelje together with N. Pavlin. He is the author of a number of articles and papers (Ethical Insights in Arts, 2001; The Messages of Space, 2008; Urgency for New Urban Policy, 2008; Architectural History, 2013 etc.). Awarded (inter)nationallly: a number of awards for the Celica Hostel (‚...the hippest hostel in the world‘ by Lonely Planet 2006), he exhibited at the Venice Arch. Biennale in 2008, won Golden Nest Award in 2009 (all with the Open Circle), the Golden Pencil Arch. Award in 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2017; Max Fabiani award in 2010 and 2014; was nominated for the European ECTP Award in 2010 and for the Piranesi Award in 2015 and 2017, as well as for the Plečnik Award in 2016.
