Cape Clear Island Development Cooperative (Comharchumann Chléíre Teoranta, Ireland)



Born in the coastal town of Dun Laoghaire in 1964. Studied linguistics and specifically Language Planning and Management in the National University of Ireland, Galway. He also has numerous marine related qualifications and is a licenced small passenger ferry captain and has studied Computer Aided Engineering and other engineering subjects. He holds a Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Transport Management.

He has 25 years of experience working on the various challenges that face island communities, including economic development and the safeguarding of the islands culture and heritage. He is currently Vice Chairperson of Comhdháil Oileán na hÉireann (the Irish Islands Federation). Recently he has been involved with the WASAC (Water Saving Challenge) project and has made presentations on this in Croatia, Brussels, Scotland and Ireland.
